Kenya Industrial Estates

Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE) is a development finance institution established by the Government of Kenya under the Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development. Its primary role is to champion the development of MSMEs throughout the country by promoting entrepreneurship, providing medium and long-term development finance, and offering incubation services. KIE aims to facilitate the growth and graduation of micro and small enterprises into medium and large enterprises, commonly known as bridging the "Missing Middle," while also fostering industrial development in rural areas. The institution achieves this through various interventions, including operating industrial sheds and SME Parks that provide shared support services, offering affordable credit finance for business growth and asset acquisition, delivering comprehensive Business Advisory Services, and facilitating crucial sub-contracting linkages between MSMEs and larger enterprises to enhance market access and technology transfer.
